Promises Kept!
The promises I made during the last campaign and how they were addressed.
Lower Taxes

During my term in office, I voted for (and the board selected) the "No New Tax" rate twice, which means that the tax paid would stay the same for the average property owner.

Then in 2025, we kept the rate the same even though appraisals decreased slightly, meaning the average tax paid decreased!

I believe this has made DD4 the ONLY local taxing authority to decrease or hold taxes the same consistently over the last 4 years, even while dealing with high inflation.
Rely on the Best Data
This one was surprisingly easy. By the time I came on board, DD4 staff already had plans to adopt the latest rainfall projections from the federal government, called Atlas 14. Though it was a very impactful change, the board voted for it unanimously and in short order with my enthusiastic support. The latest, and therefore most accurate, estimates are crucial to drainage design since they define how much rainfall is expected from various types of storms. Should another federal update occur, I plan to adopt the new data as aggressively as possible.
Improve Drainage
Over the last 4 years, DD4 has aggressively built new detention ponds, purchased land for new detention and refurbished ditches. This benefits the entire district, but especially areas near Clear Creek, such as Country Place, Brookside Village, Sleepy Hollow and Woodcreek, where there was substantial flooding during Hurricane Harvey. Local municipalities reported noticeably improved drainage during Hurricane Beryl.
Work With Other Districts

I have strong positive relationships with the Mayors of Pearland and Brookside, as well as with specific members of their City Councils.

I have attended the meetings of several MUDs just to introduce myself and foster a good relationship. If you are on a MUD board and would like a visit, please give me a call!
Take Care of Our People
The 70 employees of DD4 are doing an outstanding job and deserve to be treated fairly. During my term, I have voted for and obtained:

Annual raises that keep our people ahead of inflation

A new work week with 4 10-hour days to line up better with the engineering firms we work with and provide a popular benefit to the employees. I am committed to being available myself 7 days per week to service the public.

A new paid holiday on Juneteenth (my idea, my motion, passed unanimously). I believe DD4 is the only Brazoria County agency to do this thus far.
Be Available to the Community

The phone number you see at the top of this page is my only number, the same one my family uses. Same for the email address. They are also on my DD4 business cards. I don't have separate numbers or addresses for my campaign.

I am a regular attendee at the Friends of Brookside Village monthly potluck, since they are one of our most flood-prone areas.

I can usually be found every month at the Old Pearland Farmers' Market, the Manvel Farmers' Market and various community events.

Going Beyond the Promises:

Maintained ZERO debt.

Adopted a new set of district rules and guidelines. This was a major project led by our amazing District Engineer that required multiple reviews by the board. The new document is more streamlined and easier to use for businesses and engineers in our district and eliminated the need for common variance requests. It codified new inspection and enforcement actions that DD4 now takes to ensure drainage is properly built and maintained - a major benefit for our residents.

My idea for an annual food drive to support the good work of the Pearland Neighborhood Center was enthusiastically implemented by the Superintendent and our employees.

My proposal to clear the area between the Saving Grace Women's Home and Clear Creek in exchange for an easement was welcomed enthusiastically by both Saving Grace and DD4 staff. Our team then went the extra mile and turned the area into a solid, flat space suitable for parking, which I'm told has been very helpful.

My idea to add a notice to standard title documents letting property buyers know that they must be in compliance with DD4 rules regardless of current property condition. This helps avoid situations where buyers are surprised to find that sellers didn't build the proper drainage.

I implemented project status reporting for all commissioners.

I'm not in this for a political career, and I'm not the kind of person that seeks spotlights. I'm in it to serve my community. Any resident, no matter where they live in the district or what their politics are, receives a thoughtful and serious response from me.
